How we began...…
Michael's love for restoration began at age 8 through his beloved broken Tonka toy. A friend proclaimed that he wished it wasn't broken because he wanted to keep it. Mike fixed the toy and gave it to his surprised friend. Never the wiser, Michael's life was set on course by this gesture.
Mike started repairing anything he could get his hands on in high school. He worked for an interior remodeler throughout college where he learned to expand his skills and eye for design. While working as a Veterinary Radiologist Technician treating animals with cancer he started restoring furniture with his wife, Theresa.
Due to the demand of his work, through faith, he left the hospital to pursue his dream of being a business owner. It is this point Anthony Marie Designs began to take shape.
Theresa started at an early age seeing the potential in what others called junk. The terms "Upcycle" and "Repurpose" were not in vogue back when she started jumping into dumpsters to save something. Marrying various demolished items together to create something new was just logical to Theresa.
As she grew up, her love of art restoration gave Theresa an "It's not broken! Where’s the hammer, glue, paint?" attitude. This led her to studying art in college while she continued to paint, design clothes and furniture for herself and others.
Through much prayer and faith, Theresa left the corporate world to work with Michael fulltime as AMD began to flourish.
Michael Anthony and Theresa Marie’s life has always been about serving, whether it's through a broken toy, helping a family create a home, or salvaging a treasured family’s heirloom.
